Light Up The Season!

On behalf of downtown Duncan merchants, the Downtown Duncan BIA has installed a 12 foot light up ornament on the City Square stage, as well as a giant Christmas Tree in the Common where the food court was hosted over the summer. As many merchants will be open late for Festive Fridays extended shopping hours (until 6 pm or in some cases later) the Downtown Duncan BIA hopes that these light installations will brighten shoppers’ holiday gift-buying experience.

Shops open late on Fridays include Area 51 Skate Shop, Belongings, Cardino Shoes, Eclectic Avenue, Excellent Frameworks, Fabrications, Judy Hill Gallery, Khaya Home Decor, Little Bird, Lise Brown Cosmetics, Martin’s Menswear, The Olive Station, Outlooks Menswear, ReFresh Marketplace, Resthouse Sleep Solutions, Rembrandt’s Chocolate, Shades Ladies Clothing, Sheer Essentials, Soulful Memories, The Red Balloon Toyshop, The Garment District, Volume One Bookstore, W Dance Yoga & Supply, W.I.N.G.S., Wishes, Wall Street Clothing, and more. Restaurants like The Ainslie and The Old Firehouse are also open for a safe dining experience or take out. Or, get a haircut at salons like The Ginger Room!

Aside from shopping late and enjoying a glowing, 12-foot ornament and tree display, you can split gift buying duties with a spouse or friend, and have one half of the team take your kids out on a StoryWalk! The Downtown Duncan BIA has arranged for the pages of Llama Llama Holiday Drama by Anna Dewdney and Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson to be posted in shop windows so the little ones can follow the story as you make your way around town. You can even stop at The Garment District and take a picture in Santa’s Chair. Keep your eyes out for artwork by Visions Art Group artists in windows of shops like Alley Cat Hair Design, Little Bird, and John Hirst for SunLife Insurance.

The Downtown Duncan BIA wishes everyone happy holidays and thanks the community for shopping locally this season! Your local small businesses appreciate your patronage.
